Margaret Kagan

Story

Introduction

Margaret grew up in Kaunas in Lithuania and was imprisoned, with her mother and brother in a ghetto. Her father had already been arrested and never returned. Margaret married Joseph Kagan in the ghetto and they hid in an attic of a local factory for 9 months, assisted by Lithuanian friends. All their lives were constantly at risk. Post-war, Margaret and her husband came to the UK. You can watch Margaret giving her testimony in the Survivor Stories section of the website.
