Story

Introduction

Eugene was born Jeno Schwartz in Czechoslovakia and at the age of 16 was transported with his family to Auschwitz Birkenau. After being selected for slave labour he was sent to Dora Mittelbau where he loaded rocks onto trucks for 12-14 hours a day on starvation rations. In March 1945 he was transported to Bergen Belsen from where he was liberated. Eugene lost his entire family except one brother. You can watch Eugene giving his testimony in the Survivor Stories section of the website.
